So this is my life now, chronicled for completion's sake.

Went to Otakon 2010 (Year of the Fire Drill) and finally fell completely in love with RP partner jaclynhyde, mutually. Divorce proceedings very gradually in progress, I moved in with her just in time for Otakon 2011 (Year of Ice Cold Water (for only a dollar)). And now we're moving again because she got a job because they liked her so much at the interview they made a new job for her just so they could hire both her and the more qualified candidate. Good news: Atlanta is pretty damn gay-friendly, something which is suddenly of concern to me now! Bad news: it is still in Georgia! Anyway life is spiffywonderful and full of rainbows and obnoxiously adorable couple behavior and such.

bluh bluh also fandom crap if anyone cares to readCollapse )

Anyway mostly now I am on Tumblr (link also in topbar), mostly reblogging stupid fandom shit, though even that's slackened off recently. Mostly I just use the internet for reading material and Ravelry now - I don't really need to stay up half the night IMing Jackie anymore, I have her right here.

Which comic book character would you like to see on the silver screen? Who would you cast to play the role?

So many choices! The other day I was thinking about it and decided Booster Gold would make a pretty good one - start out with this selfish chump has-been who steals some superhero swag to relive his glory days, whatta jerk, end up with a hero the audience adores! Of course his greatest demonstration of heroism is his timenanigans with Rip Hunter, and that's way too much time to cover in a movie... but hey, it's a time traveler movie, let Hollywood screw with the timeline like they inevitably will, right? The movie would have cameos everywhere, which'll make for happy geeks and excuses to make movies about some of the heroes moviegoers have been exposed to now... and then at the very end, after the credits, you-know-who pulls a "say '...dad' after Booster leaves the room". Perfect!

Another good pick: Jaime Reyes. His story will probably be ...simplified... as far as Crisis-type things go, but hey, movies just work that way sometimes (just as long as the cast doesn't get simplified to El Paso being the whitest city in Texas...). He's got a solid origin story with a neat build-up to his heroic antics (since that's what every superhero movie has to have), he's a great kid, he's got a cool cast of characters around him, from a loving family to fun friends to eccentric mentors. And a big cartoon role that kids will remember and want to see more of him from (don't make me rant about Hal Jordan here, give me Guy or John any day). Static would be a good choice too for pretty much the same reasons.

Don't even ask me about casting, I'm terrible with actors. Why, I think Hugh Jackman would make a decent Jean Valjean because I'm just a laypeople like that.

I'm also a pretty big fan of the Questions, but wouldn't want either of them to have more than a cameo role. Since origin stories are obligatory... look at these kids, they'd get grimdark'd the hell out of. Especially since Renee being in it to any degree will probably drag up the rating due to ewww girls kissing. I say give them an animated series (imagine how cool a Denys Cowan look would be animated!) on Adult Swim or somewhere they can get away with/from their miserable lives in miserable towns, whoops.

New computer in a couplefew days! And a tablet! \o/ Also, sister-in-law got PS3, so I get to watch/play FFXIII and MGS4 now. (Husband: currently failing at first mission because he couldn't figure out who were the militia and who's the PMCs, since they're not dressed in nice contrasting colors or anything X3)

Also, I'm on a bit of a Final Fantasy Tactics kick lately (dead computer = ohai PSP!), so have some CUTEST JOB CHANGES EVAR

...heh. Of course the MGS4 one ends in Sweet Snake.

Last night: through my own stupidity (by bumping my hand on a laundry basket), I spill half a fucking glass of coffee milk on the bed.

This morning: through my own fucking morondumbassery (by leaving a cup of anything near any cats ever regardless of adequate supervision nor whether or not the cat has ever expressed interest nor ability to reach location of said beverage), cat spills an ENTIRE FUCKING GLASS of (slightly watered-down) tea all over all my notebooks and my screensaver'd open laptop. The laptop I haven't backed up anything of particular use nor interest from yet (not that I have much, considering it hasn't even been two months since the last one died).

So I'll let laptop dry out a few days and see if it starts then.

Anyway, so it turns out the Universe would like me to die of thirst in a Luddite colony. Who knew.

Sorry Jackie, turns out I am a waste of treasure map pieces and laptops.

Times incredibly approximate.

10 AM: watch Farscape and Stargate SG-1 online with IM commentary at jaclynhyde

11 AM: sister-in-law decides to play Kingdom Hearts. holy crap, that game is eight years old! feel nostalgic.

12 PM: Neopets! also nostalgic.

1 PM: shower.

2 PM: husband shows me a game he was linked to while browsing the League of Legends message boards. I can't beat his high score. No nine-legged unicorn bonus; none of us can hit the dolphins to see if it does anything.

2:30: Husband described game's music as "too catchy", like a "perpetual rickroll". Look up music video for song featured in game; consensus is that the unicorn game is better because it lacks kaleidoscopic images of a not-so-handsome guy's face. Plus, it seems to be slightly more related to the song than "suddenly, an oni attacked!"

2:45: Sister-in-law, having in the meantime gone to grocery store for milk, is doing something with Kingdom Hearts with the journal pages and all that junk or something. Husband makes Reading Rainbow lyrics reference, she does not parse, so theme song is also looked up and played for all. I ask if we've fulfilled our unicorns and rainbows quota for the day.

2:46: Sister-in-law, having recently spent a year in Japan, says the Reading Rainbow theme makes her some Japanese word she can't recall the translation for. "natsukashi". I, being the local human thesaurus, determine the correct translation. "It's like if you go back to a house you lived in when you were two years old, and say 'oh, I remember this...'" "Nostalgic?" "Maybe, but people don't really say that..." "Sure they do!"

2:47: I recall something I read somewhere about Psycho Mantis' last words in Twin Snakes ("nostalgic feeling") being a more accurate translation than the previous one ("feels kind of nice"). To YouTube, to see if he says natsukashi!

2:48: To Wikipedia, to copypasta the kana to look up a video about Psycho Mantis in Japanese!

2:49: holy crap his Japanese voice is sexy

2:50: sexy enough to not just skip to the end

2:57: Yes, he says natsukashi.

3:00: Husband reclaims computer at last despite my attempts at procrastination and I watch sister-in-law play Kingdom Hearts.

Things discussed during Kingdom Hearts:
Husband is watching Fairy Tail online, sister-in-law and I are momentarily confused by the inclusion of Plue in the opening credits. Turns out he's a summon.
I opine that the stars in Robot Unicorn Attack probably go CLANG or BONG when you run into them after husband notices they tip over slightly when you run into them and die. This reminds he and his sister of .hack which I have little knowledge of.
I ask husband if he's looked into Soul Eater yet, since the ad in my comic books looks kinda cool. No, but sister-in-law has read it. She talks about a character who is obsessed with symmetry. "Hey! Check out this gummi ship." "NNOOOO!!!"
I suggest that Sora is no longer allowed by Donald and Goofy to have anything to do with the construction of the Gummi Ship after predictably making a cock-shaped ship. And then describe the difference between Renee's surveillance doodles in 52 (adorable Question stick figure!) and the breakdown sketches seen online (...guess).

And so on. Truly, our founding fathers would be proud?

I should probably get an external hard drive or seven someday. They would probably all die in about six months, but hopefully a couple of them would die on an alternating schedule with the computers I keep killing. Here's a list of all the computerdeaths I've had in the last two or three years:

cut because this list is far too pathetically longCollapse )

You know, over at my dad's house in Texas I've got the computer my mom gave to me in high school when it became apparent that Windows ME was a sack of shit. Sure, it would crash and bluescreen at the slightest provocation, but the last I saw it a couple years ago? Fucker still worked and had all my old files on it. Thus proving that the universe is deliberately taunting me.

Via Janet and Jackie (woo, alliteration!)

Everyone has those down in the dump days, right?

If you see this in someone's journal, reply to this post with at least three characters all using their happiest icon (it doesn't matter what fandom they are - the point is for happy icons!) - then go post this in your own journal!

Oh god, I just realized - I randomly picked out my journals with the happiest happy icons, and whatever poor sucker I see next is getting an epic Vic Sage/Rorschach/Decoy Octopus combo. Nice!

The first ten people to comment in this post get to request that I write a drabble write a drabble/draw a doodle of any pairing/character of their choosing. In return, they have to post this in their journal, regardless of their ability level. Some other equivalent gift, like icons or mini-fanmixes or quickie meta, would make sense for people who don't write fics themselves.

If you'd prefer art or drabble, let me know, otherwise, a surprise! And y'all people on my flist shouldoughta know my characters and fandoms and stuff, even if a few are more subtle than others. Oh, and my art blog is spookysage, if you want to see why you should go for the drabble. Feel free to request RP-related things too, if you like.

Put your MP3 player on shuffle, and write down the first line of the first twenty songs. Post the poem that results. The first line of the twenty-first is the title.

He Loves Your Sexy Body

You are laughing
You never give me your money
In the chilly hours and minutes of uncertainty
These words are my own

有害な正しさを (Yuugai na tadashisa wo / Harmful righteousness)
Oh, I'm newly calibrated
ゴキゲンな蝶になって (Gokigen na chou ni natte / I'll become a happy butterfly)

She hangs her head and cries in my shirt
I'm your only friend, I'm not your only friend
She gets the sun in the daytime
It was a stormy night, the house rocked with wind
Pretty woman, walking down the street

All around me are familiar faces
I look at you all
I got a dirty dirty feelin' that I just can't shake
Рамамба хару мамбуру (Ramamba haru maburu / ...gibberish)

All I can say is that my life is pretty plain
Will you count me in?
It don't come easy
Spend all your time waitin' for that second chance
